Dubiousness

Hesitant and unwilling, I'm the sparrow who flickers on the porch step. She flits and flies so cautiously, afraid of being seen. She lingers for a few seconds by your feet, before returning to her haven in the hidden bushes beside the house. A few seconds pass and you wait. She returns yet again to look at you with teetering eyes and a silence in her footsteps, terrified of your next move.

She doubts everything in her power and wishes the fear would go away. But in the following second, she's already gone.

And in your heart you know something's not right.
